2004 - a Retrospective
02-Jan-05
2004... there was a two in it, a couple of zeroes, and a four as well. Hence, 2004.
According to Michelle, 2004 went downhill from the moment she met
Ben! Hehe, just kidding. 2004 was a red-letter year for
both of us, as it was the year that we met and fell in love.
It's amazing how much two people can cram into nearly six months.
Since July 10th 2004 we have been to see the following movies: I,
Robot, The Village, Garfield, Shark Tale, Bridget Jones: The Edge of
Reason, The Incredibles and Lemony Snickett's A Series of Unfortunate
Events. We have also been to see The Lion King Musical, the
greatest show ever. It was truly a wonderous and memorable
occasion, one that we will treasure forever.
Places we have been: The National Art Gallery, The Tate Gallery, Madame
Tussauds, Ann Summers (waaaaayhey!) and Soho, to see Eddie Izzard
perform live (it was hilarious!), and had a picnic in Hyde Park.
Then there is the infamous Wedding Reception, where the legend of Room
Number 9 was born! We also enjoyed the BW.com meet up in
December- all three of us had a great time!!!
More than once, we have settled for a peaceful night in, with a DVD,
Chinese/Indian food, and each other's company. Nothing feels
better than snuggling together whilst watching a movie :o)
It's impossible to describe here just how much fun we have had, the
good times that we have shared, the truly perfect and wonderful moments
that we have had together. We can't wait to share a blissfull and
happy 2005!

Hello and Welcome
28-Oct-04
Hello travellers, to a site dedicated to a coalition of two hearts,
to a union of love, romance, and just a touch of the unusual. The site
of Ben and Michelle. Aka Sothis (Timon the Meerkat) and Lil'_Bruce's_Mummy (Lola the fish).
We met on 10th July 2004, in London, having arranged to meet via
the internet, orginally as part of a group of people. One by one,
everyone dropped out, except for us, and we decided to go ahead and
meet up anyway.
From the moment we met, there was a spark. It didn't take long
for us to be holding hands as we walked around the National Art
Gallery, taking our time to take it all in. Blue paintings in
particular were of interest.
Before we knew it we were linking arms as we strolled down
London's streets, getting more snug, more close, until finally, we
shared a moment of perfect bliss- our first kiss.
Since then, we haven't looked back. From that moment, we have
looked only to the future, sharing so much with each other, and
learning with each other. We can't wait to share even more, as our love
deepens with each passing day.
Some of you might ask, why is this site called Room Number 9? That, is a a question to be answered another time...

Room Number 9- The Legend!
11-Sep-04
Room Number 9- three words that will forever haunt Michelle and
Ben. Three little, simple words with enormous embarrassment
attached to them.
Why? Well, imagine that you and your boyfriend/girlfriend are…
making… love. Then imagine that your parents tell you the next
day that they’ve heard you… then imagine that your uncles, aunts,
cousins and friends of the family tell you they’ve heard you.
That’s what happened to Michelle and Ben!!! (Well ok, the parent’s didn’t hear, but everyone else seemed to!!!)
It began innocently enough- well ok, that’s not true- how innocent can
two people be when making love? We did our best to keep the noise
down, but Michelle is… how do we say…. Vocal.
Rewind- to the start of the day. Ben was attending the wedding of
his cousin Hannah to her boyfriend Richard, and most of the family was
there. After the wedding, he bundled himself to a big fancy hotel
for the wedding reception, where he proceeded to drink vast quantities
of beer and wine, which had consequences later on! He also kept
Michelle (who was coming to the reception in the evening, as it would
be one of the last weekends we’d spend together before Ben went away)
waiting for over an hour- but it wasn’t his fault! The speeches
went on for a while!
Michelle had never met anyone apart from Ben’s parents and brother
until the reception, and so was understandably a bit nervous.
Well ok, terrified. This becomes very significant later on!
Soon Ben had introduced Michelle to his family- the zany and fun aunts,
uncles and cousins, and was allegedly introducing her as ‘the ball and
chain’, ‘the missus’ and ‘the future wife!’. Ben denies this!
As the evening wore on Ben began to dance in the most hideous manner,
flailing around like a monkey in a suit. Michelle looked on in
despair! Of course, Michelle had the clever idea of telling Ben
different numbers as he struggled to remember the door code later
on! Ben got his own back by constantly stroking Michelle’s face
as though she were a cat, kissing her at every available opportunity,
and never her out of his sight.
Michelle alleges that Ben is very noisy when drunk, but Ben cannot
verify that claim. He was drunk, and thus his memory of the party
is limited.
Eventually the party came to an end, and everyone stumbled to their
rooms. In Michelle and Ben’s case, that was room number 9.
Dum de da!
Now, the hotel had ten rooms per hallway. Not far from where Ben
and Michelle were staying were the parents of the bride (an aunt and
uncle of his), family friends, his brother and his parents. Ben
can’t recall, but another of his aunts might have been nearby.
Michelle and Ben’s room was only a single room, as technically Michelle
was smuggled in!
Single room meant a single-sized bed too, so Michelle and Ben were
snuggled up very close. They could feel the warmth of their
bodies, see the light in each other’s eyes, and that was that.
Like all young couples, we… well…. You know. We… coupled.
As already mentioned, Michelle is quite… vocal. This proved to be
the cause of all the embarrassment! Well ok, that’s not fair- Ben
contributed his fair share of sounds! We had no idea that we’d
been heard, none at all, not even at breakfast the following
morning. It wasn’t until a barbecue at Ben’s uncle’s place that
we were asked if we’d been staying in room number 9, because of the
noise coming out of number 9 during the night- and that, as they say,
was that. Michelle and Ben both went deep red, and there was much
laughter and good-natured ribbing for the rest of the day. It has
certainly put an interesting spin on things whenever Ben’s met up with
his relatives! And not only do Ben’s family now know Michelle,
she has also had perhaps the toughest initiation in known history into
any family- EVER! At least they like her!
